What is the TurboTax Federal Free Edition?
This year, valued TurboTax customers can prepare, print and e-file their simple federal return using the TurboTax Federal Free Edition. State filing charges apply.

How do I take advantage of the 15% discount on TurboTax Online products?
You must access and purchase your TurboTax Online products through the special ADP National Account Services URL at http://westnsc.adp.com/turbotax to receive the 15% discount. You may visit this site and receive this discount any time between December 4, 2008 and October 15, 2008.

When will TurboTax Online for tax year 2008 become available?
TurboTax Online products will be available in early December 2008.  Visit http://westnsc.adp.com/turbotax to receive your 15% discount on TurboTax Online products to file one personal federal return and one state return after this date.

Where can I learn more about all the products Intuit has to offer?
Information about the entire Intuit product line can be found at www.intuit.com, and you can link to this site from the http://westnsc.adp.com/turbotax site.

What Intuit products are included in the 15% discount program?
TurboTax Online products that are included in the program are: TurboTax Basic Online, TurboTax Deluxe Deduction Maximizer Online, TurboTax Premier Home & Business Online, TurboTax Premier Investments Online, and TurboTax State Online. Prices for these services will be available through the ADP National Account Services Web site http://westnsc.adp.com/turbotax in December 2008. The TurboTax Federal Free Edition is also available at this site.

Please note that the TurboTax Online products prices will increase at the end of March 2009. If you purchase TurboTax Online products prior to the end of March 2009, you will receive 15% off the standard price. If you purchase after the end of March 2009, you will receive 15% off a higher base price.

Why will the cost of TurboTax Online go up at the end of March 2009?
Before the end of March 2009 you can access TurboTax Online products at the standard price. After the end of March 2009, the TurboTax Online price increases. The standard price provides an incentive to complete your tax return early and beat the April 15 deadline rush.

To take advantage of TurboTax Online at the lower standard price, you must purchase TurboTax Online products before the end of March 2009.

What is included with the TurboTax Online products?
TurboTax Online products guide users through their return step-by-step and include all the tax forms they are likely to need. With the TurboTax Online products, e-filing is included at no extra charge. And, users can prepare their taxes using TurboTax Online and pay only when they are ready to print or electronically file their return. TurboTax has tax articles available, including Year-End Tax Tips, Taking the First-Home Buyer Credit, and the Emergency Economic Bailout Bill Extends Tax Breaks for Individuals in addition to tax tools, such as the Tax Estimator and ItsDeductible.

What items are excluded from the 15% discount?
The 15% discount does not apply to TurboTax Desktop products, refund transfers, live tax advice, and other products or services that may be offered in conjunction with the TurboTax products and services.

If I do not purchase my TurboTax Online products through the ADP National Account Services URL, can I still receive the 15% discount?
No, you must purchase TurboTax Online products through the ADP National Account Services URL http://westnsc.adp.com/turbotax to receive the 15% discount.

Instant Data Entry

What is Instant Data Entry?
Intuit has simplified the tax preparation and filing process for TurboTax users with an Instant Data Entry (IDE) service. This service enables you to import tax information from multiple participating sources such as employers, brokerage houses, and mutual fund companies directly into your TurboTax tax return forms. ADP National Account Services is partnering with Intuit to provide electronic transfer of W-2 information directly into your TurboTax tax return. The IDE service is free to you and your company.

What are the advantages of Instant Data Entry?
Using Instant Data Entry to import personal W-2 information and tax information from brokerage houses and mutual fund companies directly into your TurboTax return allows you to:
•  Reduce tax return preparation time
•  Decrease manual data entry errors
•  Increase tax return filing accuracy

How does Intuit’s Instant Data Entry work?
Intuit provides the option for users to import their W-2 wage data directly into their TurboTax return. Embedded in each version of TurboTax 2008 is a series of screens that will ask you if your employer allows the automatic download of W-2 data. You must provide information from your W-2 to access the service and enter the Employer Identification Number (EIN) that appears in Box B of your W-2. You will also be required to enter two pieces of personal information: your Social Security Number and data from Box 1 of your W-2
.
Your W-2 data will transfer directly from ADP National Account Services into your TurboTax return. If your company has elected to opt out of the program, a message will indicate that the user’s records are not available for this service.

What are the advantages of filing tax returns electronically?
Users who file electronically receive their refunds faster, and can get their refund in as few as 8 days, with direct deposit. Electronic filing is the quickest way to file taxes, and it's the only way to receive confirmation the IRS has actually received the return. With TurboTax Online products, e-file is included at no extra charge.

How long will the Instant Data Entry service run?
The W-2 download service runs from January 22, 2009 through the IRS extended tax-filing date of October 15, 2009.

Does the Instant Data Entry service support download to multiple state returns?
Yes. However, the 15% TurboTax Online products discount applies to only one federal and one state return. You may purchase additional TurboTax state returns at the regular price and import W-2 data into these multiple tax returns.

Can users transfer last year's tax data to TurboTax for Tax Year 2008?
Yes, if you used the TurboTax Online products for tax year 2007, you can transfer your data into your TurboTax Online tax return for tax year 2008. If you used TurboTax Desktop products for tax year 2007, you cannot transfer your 2007 tax data into TurboTax Online products for 2008.

Are W-2Cs available for Instant Data Entry download?
No, W-2Cs are not supported electronically for tax year 2008. Your payroll office must correct any data errors and you may change your TurboTax returns by entering the W-2C values manually.

Technical Support

Customers use FAQs and documents for self-service. If customers are unable to find an answer to their question they can access the free Customer Forums or paid support.

If you need technical support for TurboTax, you may access technical support by following the instructions provided with the TurboTax product you purchased. Or, you can access the TurboTax support URL at http://turbotax.intuit.com/support/. Per incident fees may apply if the issue is determined to be a billable issue.

Privacy & Security
How does Intuit assure data security and privacy?
Intuit offers customers security and privacy assurance in three ways:

  1. Intuit’s privacy policy certification is completed through TRUSTe. To learn more about Intuit’s policy and its relation to TRUSTe please visit: http://turbotax.intuit.com/corp/privacy.jhtml.
  2. Intuit undergoes an annual security audit by a private third party company called C-Level Security. You may review their certification and methodology at:  http://www.clevelsecurity.com/
  3. Intuit also references Intuit’s certification by C-Level Security on the TurboTax welcome page.

In addition, Intuit undergoes an annual audit by Verisign.

What type of security is built into the system to ensure that unauthorized individuals cannot access the download?

There are three levels of security built into the system to ensure that unauthorized individuals cannot access the download:

Individual Level Security. Employees must supply their Social Security Number to verify the identity of the individual, and their W-2 Box 1 data as the password for security. If the user cannot supply this information, they cannot import their W-2 data into their tax return. This ensures that no one can download information they don’t already know.

Company Level Security. Only individual employee information for companies that have chosen to participate can be accessed for IDE import.

Data Level Security.All of the W-2 information resides behind the West NSC firewall on a secure server. The Instant Data Entry service available via TurboTax uses Open Financial Exchange (OFX), the industry standard in e-finance. OFX, a proven technology that uses a secure Internet connection to transmit data, is combined with 128-bit encryption to create an advanced security protocol.
